Roberta Pili was born in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy, and comes from a musical family background. She had her first piano lesson at the age of five with her father, piano teacher. At the age of eight she won several national youth piano competitions. At the age of eleven she began her studies at the conservatory of her hometown. She made her first public appearance at the age of twelve. During her studies Roberta Pili won several other prizes at national piano competitions in Italy. At the age of seventeen she concluded her studies at the Conservatory with the highest degree and honours. Masterclasses at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy led her to further studies at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna.
She completed her musical education with the Concert Diploma and Master of Arts. She received ultimate mentoring, guidance and artistic supervision for her personal musical improvement, intensive study of a wide piano repertoire and very unique style of interpretation from the Welsh composer, conductor and pianist Dafydd Llywelyn in Munich, teaching her especially on polyphony, ultra-polyphony and sound esthetic.
Roberta Pili won several prizes at international piano competitions. She performed at renowned international music festivals and toured through Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, USA and Canada.
Her repertoire ranges from Baroque to Romanticism, from Neoclassicism up to contemporary music and includes the complete cycle of the 32 piano Sonatas by Beethoven.
Her CD-recording titled "Mirrors" (triple-CD, Live recording) was released 2007 on her own label "RPPR" Roberta Pili Piano Records®. It is the part one of a recording trilogy and contains works which the artist has accurately selected and combined, following a philosophic and historical reflection of different music styles.
For her debut recital at Zankel Hall / Carnegie Hall in March 2009 Roberta Pili performed the last big five Beethoven´s piano sonatas (Op.101, Op.106 "Hammerklavier", Op.109, Op.110 and Op.111) in a single evening with great success and standing ovations.
